The Trinity doctrine of Christendom. There are 349 different denominations of Christian Faith in the World Council of Churches, and to be a member of the World Council Of Churches you must teach the Trinity as your foundational doctrine. On this page I will expose this teaching for what it truly is. Neither the word nor the concept of the Trinity are found in Scripture. I will provide overwhelming scriptural support for that fact. It is important that you understand this teaching because without this foundational knowledge you will never understand the scriptures or religion. I will take this one step further and suggest this, that until you are able to understand the teaching of the Trinity, and the teaching of evolution, you are not clearly able to understand anything, you are trapped in the matrix of solipsism. Solipsism is the belief system that says that the only things that are true, are those things that you believe to be true, and if you do not believe them to be true, then they are not. Reality has no place in the consciousness of the Solipsist.
The Teaching of the Trinity is the main reason for the conflict between Islam and Christianity, and at the very heart of the wars fought between them, for the last 1500 years, in which millions of people have been slaughtered, truly, the teaching of the Trinity has lead to the deaths of most war casualties second only to the belief of the immortality of the human soul, in which a person believes that they cannot be destroyed, even by God, so they fear no death, in fact, death to them means some sort of eternal bliss with others lost in death. It was the teaching of the immortality of the human soul that convinced Eve to turn her back on God, calling him a liar, when she took the words of Satan over the words of God, when Satan told her, “You positively will not die, … You will become like God” and all of the religions of the world except one, continue to teach that very same Satanic lie to this day, in which that lie, brought all of mankind to their deaths. To this very day I have never met a person who believed in the Trinity, that did not also believe in the immortality of the human soul, and it has also been my experience, that they celebrate child sacrifice, the worship of the dead, a belief in hellfire and damnation (they believe that God tortures people forever in a fiery hell, and at the same time preaching forgiveness of sins no matter how grievous they might be, grace, so tell me if you can, just how does that work ) and are patriotic, meaning that they support the killing of innocent people all over this globe, they are members of the military industrial complex that is in reality a cult. When you kill, just because someone tells you to kill, you are in a cult. Most of them also vote, casting their lot in with Satan’s governments rather than the Kingdom of God. Most of them are also idolaters, who pledge their allegiance to a material object, ( ” I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG “) rather than a living God, and then blame that living God for their idolatry, when making the claim, “ONE NATION UNDER GOD” in essence blaming God for their evil conduct because God is blessing their evil deeds, ( ” GOD BLESS AMERICA ” ). Currently, in this nation, men of notable reputation, are actually making the claim that our current President is appointed by God. Think about that for one moment, with just one point to ponder, and that is this, America, as a nation of people, have ripped the heads arms and legs off of some 65,000,000 of it’s own children while they are still alive. Do you really believe that God would appoint leaders and bless a nation, that kills it’s own people by the tens of millions in the most horrifying means known to man. And if you, pledge your allegiance to such a nation, what sort of person does that make you ?
THE ATHANASIAN CREED – THE TRINITY DOCTRINE
So, What follows is the Athanasian Creed, “Whosoever will be saved, before all things it is necessary that he hold the catholic faith. Which faith unless every one do keep whole and un defiled, without doubt he shall perish everlastingly. And the catholic faith is this: that we worship one God in Trinity, and Trinity in Unity; neither confounding the Persons, nor dividing the Essence. For there is one Person of the Father; another of the Son; and another of the Holy Ghost. But the Godhead of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, is all one; the Glory equal, the Majesty co-eternal. Such as the Father is; such is the Son; and such is the Holy Ghost. The Father uncreated; the Son uncreated; and the Holy Ghost uncreated. The Father unlimited; the Son unlimited; and the Holy Ghost unlimited. The Father eternal; the Son eternal; and the Holy Ghost eternal. And yet they are not three eternal s; but one eternal. As also there are not three uncreated; nor three infinite’s, but one uncreated; and one infinite. So likewise the Father is Almighty; the Son Almighty; and the Holy Ghost Almighty. And yet they are not three Almighty’s; but one Almighty. So the Father is God; the Son is God; and the Holy Ghost is God. And yet they are not three Gods; but one God. So likewise the Father is Lord; the Son Lord; and the Holy Ghost Lord. And yet not three Lords; but one Lord. For like as we are compelled by the Christian verity; to acknowledge every Person by himself to be God and Lord; So are we forbidden by the catholic religion; to say, There are three Gods, or three Lords. The Father is made of none; neither created, nor begotten. The Son is of the Father alone; not made, nor created; but begotten. The Holy Ghost is of the Father and of the Son; neither made, nor created, nor begotten; but proceeding. So there is one Father, not three Fathers; one Son, not three Sons; one Holy Ghost, not three Holy Ghosts. And in this Trinity none is before, or after another; none is greater, or less than another. But the whole three Persons are co eternal, and coequal. So that in all things, as aforesaid; the Unity in Trinity, and the Trinity in Unity, is to be worshiped. He therefore that will be saved, let him thus think of the Trinity.”
“Furthermore, it is necessary to everlasting salvation; that he also believe faithfully the Incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ. For the right Faith is, that we believe and confess; that our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is God and Man; God, of the Substance [Essence] of the Father; begotten before the worlds; and Man, of the Substance [Essence] of his Mother, born in the world. Perfect God; and perfect Man, of a reasonable soul and human flesh subsisting. Equal to the Father, as touching his Godhead; and inferior to the Father as touching his Manhood. Who although he is God and Man; yet he is not two, but one Christ. One; not by conversion of the Godhead into flesh; but by assumption of the Manhood into God. One altogether; not by confusion of Substance [Essence]; but by unity of Person. For as the reasonable soul and flesh is one man; so God and Man is one Christ; Who suffered for our salvation; descended into hell; rose again the third day from the dead. He ascended into heaven, he sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty, from whence he will come to judge the living and the dead. At whose coming all men will rise again with their bodies; And shall give account for their own works. And they that have done good shall go into life everlasting; and they that have done evil, into everlasting fire. This is the catholic faith; which except a man believe truly and firmly, he cannot be saved.”
ANOTHER ATHANASIAN CREED QUOTE
“The Father is not made nor created nor begotten by anyone. The Son is neither made nor created, but begotten of the Father alone. The Holy Spirit is of the Father and of the Son, neither made nor created nor begotten, but proceeding. Thus, there is one Father, not three Fathers; one Son, not three Sons; one Holy Spirit, not three Holy Spirits. And in this Trinity none is before or after another; none is greater or less than another; but the whole three persons are coeternal with each other and coequal, so that in all things, as has been stated above, the Trinity in Unity and Unity in Trinity is to be worshiped. Therefore, whoever desires to be saved must think thus about the Trinity. But it is also necessary for everlasting salvation that one faithfully believe the incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, it is the right faith that we believe and confess that our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is at the same time both God and man. He is God, begotten from the substance of the Father before all ages; and He is man, born from the substance of perfect God and Perfect man, composed of a rational soul and human flesh;equal to the Father with respect to His divinity, less than the Father with respect to his humility. Although He is God and man, He is not two, but one Christ; one, however, not by the conversion of the divinity into flesh, but by the assumption of the humanity into God; one altogether, not by confusion of substance, but by unity of person. For as the rational soul and flesh is one man, so God and man is one Christ, who suffered for our salvation, descended into hell, rose again the third day from the dead, ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father, God Almighty, from whence he will come to judge the living and the dead. At His coming all people will rise again with their bodies and give an account concerning their own deeds. And those who have done good will enter into eternal life, and those who have done evil into eternal fire. This is the Catholic Faith; whoever does not believe it faithfully and firmly cannot be saved.”
SCRIPTURAL SUPPORT FOR THE IDENTITY OF CHRIST
In this section we will begin to examine scriptures that tell us who Jesus was and is. It will seem a bit boring and overwhelming, but you must work your way through it. Perhaps just a few scriptures a day and then come back. The entire Trinity doctrine hinges on one missing single letter, the letter “a” at John 1:1, and we will address that “definite article ” after this section. It is incomprehensible to understand the hundreds of millions of people that have been slaughtered simply because someone chose to leave out one single letter in a Greek Text, but that is exactly what has happened, and you can just bet that Satan and his Demons are having an uproarious laughter party at the ignorance and stupidity of man. He was able to mislead mankind in such a blood bath simply by convincing someone to leave one single letter out of the Bible. I know that sounds simplistic, but once you have worked your way through this menu topic, you will completely understand what I mean. And because mankind is so easily manipulated, many other Bible topics are also misunderstood. If man can be confused over one single letter, imagine how confused they can get over one entire sentence or thought. I will try to limit my commentary along the way, and save that for the very last section. I will just give a brief statement on each scripture, and let the scripture speak for itself. This will be lengthy, there is no easy way, no shortcut, you have to put this Trinity doctrine to rest, and that will take effort on your part as well as mine, but I had to write this, all you have to do is read it. We will start from the very beginning of Matthew and finish up in Revelation and this will be hundreds of scriptures long, proving in an overwhelming way, exactly what the scriptures say about the nature of Jesus Christ. As far as I know, there is only one organized religion on earth that teaches the Bibles viewpoint of who Christ was and is, and for this reason it is critically important for you to understand what the Bible says about Christ, rather than what the Churches teach from the pulpits. In the future, not saying when, because even Christ himself said that he did not know the day and the hour, but you are going to have to make a stand between the kingdoms of this world, and the kingdom of God, and you will not be able to do that without an accurate understanding of the true nature, and position of Christ in the kingdom he preached to us about. So here we go, hang on, strap yourself in, it might be a bumpy ride for you.
MATTHEW 1:1
“The book of the history of Jesus Christ, son of David, son of Abraham:”
Muslims also believe that Mohammad is also a son of Abraham, putting him on equal footing with Jesus.
MATTHEW 1:16
” Jacob became father to Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born, who is called Christ.”
This scripture tells us that “Jesus was born”, if he was not born, why would this scripture tell us that he was ? Born also indicates that one has a beginning.
MATTHEW 1:17,18
“All the generations, then, from Abraham until David were fourteen generations, and from David until the deportation to Babylon fourteen generations, and from the deportation to Babylon until the Christ fourteen generations. But the birth of Jesus Christ was in this way. During the time his mother Mary was promised in marriage to Joseph, she was found to be pregnant by holy spirit before they were united.”
42 Generations from Abraham to Christ. The Bible exposes the genealogy and historic events so that we can be sure of it’s authenticity. It also does not sugar coat, hold in favorable light, the dark side of history, it reveals the evil workings of angels and men, including the nation of men that bore God’s name. There was nothing that God could do to stop Israel from throwing it’s children into the fires of Molech, and to this very day, child sacrifice is celebrated among humans, and no where greater than the Western Nations. And among the Western Nations, no where greater than the United States of America. To punish Israel, God handed them over into Babylonian captivity.
The Bible tells us that when Mary became pregnant, she had never known men before, she was a virgin. Now there are those that claim that this is physically impossible, so as tasteful as I can, let me explain human physiology to those who doubt the physical possibility of virgin pregnancy. When a female body is formed in the womb, at some point a covering is place over the vaginal canal, called a hymen, to restrict amniotic fluids. As the child develops a hole develops in the hymen to allow for normal vaginal fluids to discharge, this discharge keeps the vaginal canal clean and healthy. Semen can be inserted through this hole, allowing for a pregnancy to develop. Even in our day, sexual intercourse is not necessary for pregnancy. The hymen also serves the purpose to keep fecal material from entering the vaginal canal until the child develops to using the bathroom normally. An intelligent design if you ask me. This is in no way suggesting that God used seminal fluid to impregnate Mary.
MATTHEW 1 :19-25
” However, Joseph her husband, because he was righteous and did not want to make her a public spectacle, intended to divorce her secretly. But after he had thought these things over, look! Jehovah’s angel appeared to him in a dream, saying: “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife home, for that which has been begotten in her is by holy spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you must call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” All this actually came about for that to be fulfilled which was spoken by Jehovah through his prophet, saying: “Look! The virgin will become pregnant and will give birth to a son, and they will call his name Immanuel, which means, when translated, “With Us Is God.” Then Joseph woke up from his sleep and did as the angel of Jehovah had directed him, and he took his wife home. But he had no intercourse with her until she gave birth to a son; and he called his name Jesus.”
Are we to take from “With Us Is God” that Jesus is actually God ??? Well How many times have you yourself ever said ” I’m with you” !! At Zechariah 8:25 it tells us this,” This is what Jehovah of armies has said, ‘It will be in those days that ten men out of all the languages of the nations will take hold, yes, they will actually take hold of the skirt of a man who is a Jew, saying: “We will go with YOU people, for we have heard that GOD IS WITH YOU people.” Is this scripture truly suggesting that Jehovah was literally, PHYSICALLY with these people ??? At Revelation 21:3 it says this, ” With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “ Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. ” Are we to assume that God is literally going to reside with the people, in the flesh ??
If just the amount of the energy of the Sun, that would fit on the head of a pin, it would vaporize everything within a 90 mile radius. Our Sun is a wimp compared to other stars in the universe when it come to energy and light, it was designed with a purpose, to keep the earth within a temperature gradient suitable to sustain all the different life forms on earth. Imagine if you will, the energy contained within the person who created those heavenly bodies, human flesh would instantly vaporize in the presence of such power, thus the scriptures tell us that flesh and blood cannot enter into the kingdom of the heavens. (the doctrine of immortality taught by Satan and his churches teach that flesh and blood cannot be destroyed, and therefore can enter into the heavens with their flesh and blood body). I don’t know about you, but when I look at skeletal remains, my logic and reason tells me the exact same thing that God said would happen, flesh and blood can be destroyed, and it can die, and when it does, it returns not to heaven, but to the dust of the earth. My eyes tell me, that the skeletal remains of my family members in the grave are still in the grave, they are not in heaven, and they are not in hell. They are in the process of returning to the dust.
At Exodus 33:20 we read this,” And he added: “You are not able to see my face, because no man may see me and yet live.” This is what Jehovah said to Moses when Moses asked to see him. Yet people could stand in the very presence of Christ, indeed, minister to him, like washing his feet. Christendom teaches that Jesus of the Greek Scriptures is actually Jehovah of the Hebrew Scriptures, in light of that belief, why on earth would scriptural inspiration, even mention something so confusing. If Jehovah and Jesus are the same person, why not just say so, but the scriptures do not, not even once, it is only the churches that teach that Jesus is Jehovah. They have an agenda, and you need to recognize that. Not one single translator or transliteration on planet earth has ever translated YHWH as Jesus, not one, not ever.
At John 1:18 it says,“No man has seen God at any time” and yet men have seen Jesus. With all of the above thoughts in mind, can you wrap your head around the belief that God Himself, reduced Himself, divided Himself into two different DNA stems, one sperm, one egg, then combined Himself into the womb of Mary, where he rested for nine months, helpless. Someone of incomprehensible energy being reduced to a sperm and egg at the molecular level, someone with incomprehensible intelligence that we will never understand, someone capable of forming the endless varieties of life, over millions of years, someone who formed all of the incalculable bodies in this universe that seem to go on forever without end and expand, and set into motion a universe of heavenly bodies in completely precise motion that there location and position in the universe can be calculated to the billionth of a second and in the millions of years into the future, and where they were in the past, that sort of intelligence, reduced into the brain of a dividing cell embryo in the womb of Mary. Or, is it easier for you to comprehend what the scriptures say happened, that the creator of us all, and of this magnificent universe and all life in heaven, used his creative powers to transport the life of his firstborn, his first creation, the first person that Jehovah brought to life, to recreate this person into the life of a human, like he has done billions of times already. If you can believe that God made Adam and Eve, why would it be impossible to believe, that he could not do the same with Christ. If God can bring into life our first human mother and father, and all of the angels in heaven, why is it so difficult for people to accept that he did it with Jesus as well, with complete scriptural support, and not one single word to suggest otherwise. Save for the spurious omission of the single letter “a”.
At Matthew 2;13-20 it tells us this, ” After they had withdrawn, look! Jehovah’s angel appeared in a dream to Joseph, saying: “Get up, take the young child and its mother and flee into Egypt, and stay there until I give you word; for Herod is about to search for the young child to destroy it.” ( If Jesus were Jehovah, wouldn’t the sentence be worded “Get up, take me and my mother and flee into Egypt for Herod is about to search for me and kill me “)
” So he got up and took along the young child and its mother by night and withdrew into Egypt, and he stayed there until the decease of Herod, for that to be fulfilled which was spoken by Jehovah through his prophet, saying: “Out of Egypt I called my son.” ( If Jesus was Jehovah wouldn’t the scripture be more clear if it said, “Out of Egypt I called myself )
“Then Herod, seeing he had been outwitted by the astrologers, fell into a great rage, and he sent out and had all the boys in Bethlehem and in all its districts done away with, from two years of age and under, according to the time that he had carefully ascertained from the astrologers. Then that was fulfilled which was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet, saying: “A voice was heard in Rama h, weeping and much wailing; it was Rachel weeping for her children, and she was unwilling to take comfort, because they are no more.” Nothing to do with the trinity, but notice here that it was not three wise men sent by Herod, it was three astrologers that he sent to get Christ killed.
“When Herod had deceased, look! Jehovah’s angel appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt and said: “Get up, take the young child and its mother and be on your way into the land of Israel, for those who were seeking the soul of the young child are dead.” Let us think and reason, if Jesus were Jehovah as a child, would anyone have the power to take the soul of Jehovah ? Would any man have the power to kill God Himself ? Immortality means that a person cannot be destroyed, if Jehovah can be killed, then he does not have immortality, he is simply mortal, and how can a mortal man hand out immortality ?
At Matthew 3: 13-17 it tells us this, ” Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, in order to be baptized by him. But the latter tried to prevent him, saying: “I am the one needing to be baptized by you, and are you coming to me?” In reply Jesus said to him: “Let it be, this time, for in that way it is suitable for us to carry out all that is righteous.” Then he quit preventing him. After being baptized Jesus immediately came up from the water; and, look! the heavens were opened up, and he saw descending like a dove God’s spirit coming upon him. Look! Also, there was a voice from the heavens that said: “This is my Son, the beloved, whom I have approved.”
Can you honestly imagine God needing a man in order for Him to demonstrate righteousness, imagine God leaving his heavenly thrown, coming to earth, in order to be baptized by a man, really, really ? If Baptism is to show an outward public display of dedication to doing the will of God, then how would this read in the case of God getting baptized ? Would it say , “I am getting baptized in an outward expression of dedication to myself to do my own will ??
The scripture goes on to tell us about God’s spirit descending upon Jesus. The trinity teaches that Jesus, God, and the Spirit are three persons in one entity. And yet we are told that the spirit came down from heaven and descended upon Jesus, if the spirit was a person, how could it be in heaven and be Jesus at the same time. Why would a part of Jesus need to descend upon him, if it already was him, really, does that make any sense at all to you ?
Then a voice comes from the heavens and says “This is my Son, the beloved, whom I have approved”. If Jesus is God, and he is in the water with John the Baptist, who has the voice that is calling him a Son. if Jesus is the Son, then the voice must be coming from his Father. So, in line of the Trinity doctrine if properly written this scripture should read something like, “This is me myself, and I love myself, and I approve of myself ” That spirit thing is still hanging out there though.
At Matthew 4: 1-4 it says this, “Then Jesus was led by the spirit up into the wilderness to be tempted by the Devil. After he had fasted forty days and forty nights, then he felt hungry. Also, the Tempter came and said to him: “If you are a son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.” But in reply he said: “It is written, ‘Man must live, not on bread alone, but on every utterance coming forth through Jehovah’s mouth.”
At Matthew 4: 5-7 it says this,“ Then the Devil took him along into the holy city, and he stationed him upon the battlement of the temple and said to him: “If you are a son of God, hurl yourself down; for it is written, ‘He will give his angels a charge concerning you, and they will carry you on their hands, that you may at no time strike your foot against a stone.’”Jesus said to him: “Again it is written, ‘You must not put Jehovah your God to the test.”
At Matthew 4: 8-11 it tells us this, “Again the Devil took him along to an unusually high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory, and he said to him: “All these things I will give you if you fall down and do an act of worship to me.” Then Jesus said to him: “Go away, Satan! For it is written, ‘It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.” Then the Devil left him, and, look! angels came and began to minister to him.”
Matthew 7:21-23 says this, ” Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’ And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew you, Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness.”
Matthew 8:29 says this “And, look! they screamed, saying: “What have we to do with you, Son of God? Did you come here to torment us before the appointed time?”
Matthew 9:11-13 it tells us this, “ But on seeing this the Pharisees began to say to his disciples: “Why is it that YOUR teacher eats with tax collectors and sinners?” Hearing [them], he said: “Persons in health do not need a physician, but the ailing do. Go, then, and learn what this means, ‘I want mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came to call, not righteous people, but sinners.”
Matthew 9:27 says, “As Jesus was passing along from there, two blind men followed him, crying out and saying: “Have mercy on us, Son of David.”
Matthew 10:20 says, “for the ones speaking are not just you, but it is the spirit of your Father that speaks by you.”
Matthew 10:32-33 says this, ” “Everyone, then, that confesses union with me before men, I will also confess union with him before my Father who is in the heavens; but whoever disowns me before men, I will also disown him before my Father who is in the heavens.”
Matthew 10:40 Jesus said this, “He that receives you receives me also, and he that receives me receives him also that sent me forth.”
Matthew 11: 25-27 Jesus said this, “ At that time Jesus said in response: “I publicly praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intellectual ones and have revealed them to babes.Yes, O Father, because to do thus came to be the way approved by you. All things have been delivered to me by my Father, and no one fully knows the Son but the Father, neither does anyone fully know the Father but the Son and anyone to whom the Son is willing to reveal him.”
Matthew 12:50 Jesus said this, “ For whoever does the will of my Father who is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.” Dozens of times Jesus says in scripture, ” my Father who is in heaven, but at the very same moment, Jesus was standing on earth, can he bee in two places at the same time, or is it just possible that Jesus really meant what he said, that he was not the Father, but rather he HAD a Father, and his Father was actually in heaven.
Matthew 13: 54-58, ” And after coming into his home territory he began to teach them in their synagogue, so that they were astounded and said: “Where did this man get this wisdom and these powerful works? Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us? Where, then, did this man get all these things?” So they began to stumble at him. But Jesus said to them: “A prophet is not unhonored except in his home territory and in his own house.” And he did not do many powerful works there on account of their lack of faith.” Would God Almighty have human brothers and sisters, which would make him human as well, with an obvious beginning, long after all other creation was finished, meaning the universe and all that is in it was finished and Then God came into being, does that really make sense to you ? This scripture also points out that Jesus’s own family did not put faith in him.
Matthew 14:32-33 tells us this, “ And after they got up into the boat, the windstorm abated. Then those in the boat did obeisance to him, saying: “You are really God’s Son.”
Matthew 16:16 says this,” In answer Simon Peter said: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Matthew 17:5 says this, “While he was yet speaking, look! a bright cloud overshadowed them, and, look! a voice out of the cloud, saying: “This is my Son, the beloved, whom I have approved; listen to him.”
Matthew 17:22-23 it says this, ” It was while they were gathered together in Galilee that Jesus said to them: “The Son of man is destined to be betrayed into men’s hands, and they will kill him, and the third day he will be raised up.” Consequently they were very much grieved.” If God is killed, truly dead, then who is left to raise the dead and run the universe? If there is no such thing as death, if no one ever dies, then God is a liar when he says that men do die ? So which is it ? Do humans die or not, what is your personal experience ? If Christ never died, then his sacrifice to repurchase mankind from death is invalid !!!
Matthew 20:18-19 tells us this, “ “Look! We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man will be delivered up to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death, and will deliver him up to [men of] the nations to make fun of and to scourge and to impale, and the third day he will be raised up.”
Matthew 20:20-23 tells us this, “Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee approached him with her sons, doing obeisance and asking for something from him. He said to her: “What do you want?” She said to him: “Give the word that these my two sons may sit down, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your kingdom.” Jesus said in answer: “YOU men do not know what you are asking for. Can you drink the cup that I am about to drink?” They said to him: “We can.” He said to them: “YOU will indeed drink my cup, but this sitting down at my right hand and at my left is not mine to give, but it belongs to those for whom it has been prepared by my Father.”
Matthew 20:28 says this, “Just as the Son of man came, not to be ministered to, but to minister and to give his soul a ransom in exchange for many.” So if Jesus is actually God Almighty, Jehovah, and this scripture says that he is going to surrender up his soul as a ransom in exchange for many, who exactly is he offering up this ransom too ? Does it make sense to you, that God would first create men, let them die because they go against him and take sides with the enemy of God, and then kill himself so that they can live again ? What happens to everyone and the entire universe, when God is dead ?
Matthew 20:30, “And, look! two blind men sitting beside the road, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying: “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!” Many times Christ is called Son of David. Are we to believe that Jehovah’s ancestry is traced back only to David ? If so, if Jesus is actually Jehovah, and we can only trace his existence back to David, who is it then that created Adam and Eve, and all of the history between the Garden of Eden and David ? Who created this entire universe and all that is in it, and if no one created it, then why bother with Christian faith, or any other belief system, why don’t we all just do what we want.
Matthew 21:20 tells us this again, “As for the crowds, those going ahead of him and those following kept crying out: “Save, we pray, the Son of David! Blessed is he that comes in Jehovah’s name! Save him, we pray, in the heights above!” Why would Jesus need to come in Jehovah’s name if Jesus was actually Jehovah, why not just use his own name. Why on earth would you say that you are coming in someone else’s name, to represent them, if you actually were that person. Seems a bit confusing to me.
Matthew 22:41-45, it says this about Jesus, “Now while the Pharisees were gathered together Jesus asked them: “What do YOU think about the Christ? Whose son is he?” They said to him: “David’s.” He said to them: “How, then, is it that David by inspiration calls him ‘Lord,’ saying, ‘Jehovah said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies beneath your feet”’? If, therefore, David calls him ‘Lord,’ how is he his son?”
Matthew 23: 6-10 tells us this,” They like the most prominent place at evening meals and the front seats in the synagogues, and the greetings in the marketplaces and to be called Rabbi by men.But you, do not you be called Rabbi, for one is your teacher, whereas all you are brothers. Moreover, do not call anyone your father on earth, for one is your Father, the heavenly One. Neither be called ‘leaders,’for your Leader is one, the Christ.”
Matthew 23:39 says this, “ For I say to you, you will by no means see me from henceforth until you say, ‘Blessed is he that comes in Jehovah’s name!”
Matthew 24:36, says this” “Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father.”
Matthew 25:40 says this, “And in reply the king will say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, To the extent that you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.” If Jesus is actually Jehovah, then we must take from this scripture that Jehovah has brothers. Think about that, the supreme sovereign of this entire universe has brothers. I wonder if he has sisters ? And if Jehovah has brothers and sisters, then he must have parents !!!
Matthew 26:1-2 tells us this, “ Now when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said to his disciples: “You know that two days from now the Passover occurs, and the Son of man is to be delivered up to be impaled.” Imagine if you will for a moment, how powerful people would have to be, to nail Jehovah to a cross, that is of course, assuming that Jesus is actually Jehovah. Remember what scientist say, a speck of matter from the sun small enough to fit on the head of a pin, would vaporize everything within a 90 mile radius. I wonder what sort of material that cross was made out of.
Matthew 26: 27-28 tells us, “Also, he took a cup and, having given thanks, he gave it to them, saying: “Drink out of it, all of you, for this means my ‘blood of the covenant,’which is to be poured out in behalf of many for forgiveness of sins “ If Christ was to pour out his blood, then that must be because he was made of flesh and blood, and yet we read in the scriptures that Jehovah resides in heaven, but then again, the bible also tells us that, “as brethren in the Lord, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God: … shall see the Lord, or enter into and possess the kingdom of heaven; “ If Jehovah is in the heavens, and flesh and blood cannot reside there, and Jehovah is made of flesh and blood, someone is lying here.
Matthew 26: 52-53 says this, “ Then Jesus said to him: “Return your sword to its place, for all those who take the sword will perish by the sword. Or do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father to supply me at this moment more than twelve legions of angels? “ If Jesus is Jehovah, and Jesus needed twelve legions of angels, why wouldn’t Jesus just ask for them himself, why ask himself to ask himself, if he is not someone else, but actually is that someone else, boy, I don’t know about you, but this Trinity stuff is confusing to me.
Matthew 27: 45-46: says this, “From the sixth hour on a darkness fell over all the land, until the ninth hour. About the ninth hour Jesus called out with a loud voice, saying: “Eʹli, Eʹli, laʹma sa·bach·thaʹni?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” If Jesus was Jehovah it seems that that scripture would read better written as , “MYSELF, MYSELF, WHY HAVE I FORSAKEN ME”
Matthew 27:54 says this, “But the army officer and those with him watching over Jesus, when they saw the earthquake and the things happening, grew very much afraid, saying: “Certainly this was God’s Son.” Someone who was there did not think for one second that Jesus was God himself, but he believed he was God’s Son. If Jesus was actually God, it would make more sense if that scripture would simply read, “Certainly this was God”
Matthew 28:1-5 It says this, “And, notice! a great earthquake had taken place; for Jehovah’s angel had descended from heaven and approached and rolled away the stone, and was sitting on it. His outward appearance was as lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. Yes, for fear of him the watchmen trembled and became as dead men. But the angel in answer said to the women: “Do not you be fearful, for I know you are looking for Jesus who was impaled.” So if Jesus is Jehovah, and he was impaled and dead and buried in the grave, who gave the angel the command to unseal the tomb. And if he was raised up from the dead, but still trapped inside the tomb, would not Jehovah have the strength to move a rock, considering the massive objects in space that he suspends upon nothing ?
Matthew 28: 18-20 tells us this, ” And Jesus approached and spoke to them, saying: “All authority has been given me in heaven and on the earth. Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And, look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.” So if Jesus was in reality God Almighty who is it that had more authority than God, so that God could receive the authority that was given him ? Who has more authority than God ?
Matthew 5:16 tells us this, ” Likewise let YOUR light shine before men, that they may see your fine works and give glory to your Father who is in the heavens.”
Matthew 5:33 says this, ” Again you heard that it was said to those of ancient times, ‘You must not swear without performing, but you must pay your vows to Jehovah.’
Matthew 5:45, ” that you may prove yourselves sons of your Father who is in the heavens,
Matthew 5:48 says this, “YOU must accordingly be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Matthew 6:1 says this, ” Take good care not to practice your righteousness in front of men in order to be observed by them; otherwise you will have no reward with your Father who is in the heavens.”
Matthew 6:3-4 says this, ” But you, when making gifts of mercy, do not let your left hand know what your right is doing, that your gifts of mercy may be in secret; then your Father who is looking on in secret will repay you.”
Matthew 6:6-8 says this, ” You, however, when you pray, go into your private room and, after shutting your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; then your Father who looks on in secret will repay you. But when praying, do not say the same things over and over again, just as the people of the nations do, for they imagine they will get a hearing for their use of many words. So, do not make yourselves like them, for God your Father knows what things you are needing before ever you ask him.”
Matthew 6:9, ” “You must pray, then, this way: “‘Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified.”
Matthew 6: 14-15, ” “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; whereas if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
Matthew 6:32, ” “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you;whereas if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
Matthew 7:11 says this, ” Therefore, if you, although being wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more so will your Father who is in the heavens give good things to those asking him? “
Matthew 7:21 says this, ” Therefore, if you, although being wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more so will your Father who is in the heavens give good things to those asking him?”
Matthew 10: 20 says this, ” for the ones speaking are not just you, but it is the spirit of your Father that speaks by you.” Notice the wording here, “the spirit of your Father” The holy spirit is not a person, it is simple the active force, the power of God himself.
Matthew 10: 29-31 says this, ” Do not two sparrows sell for a coin of small value? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father’s [knowledge]. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Therefore have no fear: you are worth more than many sparrows.”
Matthew 10: 32-33 says this, ” Everyone, then, that confesses union with me before men, I will also confess union with him before my Father who is in the heavens; but whoever disowns me before men, I will also disown him before my Father who is in the heavens.”
Matthew 10:40 says this, ” He that receives you receives me also, and he that receives me receives him also that sent me forth.”
Matthew 11: 25-27 says this, “At that time Jesus said in response: “I publicly praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intellectual ones and have revealed them to babes. Yes, O Father, because to do thus came to be the way approved by you. All things have been delivered to me by my Father, and no one fully knows the Son but the Father, neither does anyone fully know the Father but the Son and anyone to whom the Son is willing to reveal him.”
Matthew 12:18 says this about spirit, ” Look! My servant whom I chose, my beloved, whom my soul approved! I will put my spirit upon him, and what justice is, he will make clear to the nations. Notice the wording, I will put my spirit upon him, indicates that the spirit is not a person, but rather a force and it belongs to God, he said, MY SPIRIT.
Matthew 12: 23 says this, ” Well, all the crowds were simply carried away and began to say: “May this not perhaps be the Son of David? So often the scriptures refer to Christ as the Son of David. How could God be the Son of Anyone.
Matthew 12:28 says this, “ But if it is by means of God’s spirit that I expel the demons, the kingdom of God has really overtaken you”. Jesus says it is by GOD’S SPIRIT, if Jesus was God, why wouldn’t he just say, “by MY SPIRIT, the answer is in the next scripture.
Mathew 12: 31-32 says this, ” On this account I say to YOU, Every sort of sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the spirit will not be forgiven. For example, whoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the holy spirit, it will not be forgiven him, no, not in this system of things nor in that to come.” It would be blasphemous to claim for yourself something that belonged to God alone. Christ would not do that.
Matthew 12: 49-50, tells us this, ” And extending his hand toward his disciples, he said: “Look! My mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of my Father who is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.” Jesus did not say whoever does my will,he said whoever does the will of my Father, and the Father is in heaven. Another point is this, doing, not just believing, the will of God, makes one a brother and sister of Christ.
Matthew 15:13 says this, “ In reply he said: “Every plant that my heavenly Father did not plant will be uprooted.” Jesus did not say, every plant that I planted, he said every plant that my FATHER planted. It sure sounds to me like Jesus thought that he had a Father.
Matthew 15: 21-22 says once again, ” Leaving there, Jesus now withdrew into the parts of Tyre and Sidon. And, look! a Phoenician woman from those regions came out and cried aloud, saying: “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David.” again, referring to Jesus as the Son Of David, are we to believe that David was also God ?
Matthew 16:27 says this, ” For the Son of Man is destined to come in the glory of his Father with his angels,” why would God at anytime be referred to as a Son of Man ? Christ said that he will come in the glory of his Father and with his Fathers angels, he did not say he would be coming in his own glory, although it cannot be denied, when he does return it will be in astounding unimaginable glory and certainly with his Father’s angels.
Matthew 17:22-23 says this, “It was while they were gathered together in Galilee that Jesus said to them: “The Son of man is destined to be betrayed into men’s hands, and they will kill him, and the third day he will be raised up.” Could anyone, even any man, actually kill God, when the scriptures say that we cannot even look at God, and remain alive ?
Matthew 18:14 says this, ” Likewise it is not a desirable thing with my Father who is in heaven for one of these little ones to perish.” Christ never once refers to his Father as being on earth, he always refers to his Father as being in heaven
Matthew 18:19, ” my Father in heaven.” When Jesus said this, where was he ? And where did he say his Father was ?
Matthew 21:19, says this, ” As for the crowds, those going ahead of him and those following kept crying out: “Save, we pray, the Son of David! Blessed is he that comes in Jehovah’s name! Save him, we pray, in the heights above! “
Matthew 22: 37-38 says this, ” He said to him: “‘You must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment “ Notice that Jesus did not say that “You must love me with your whole heart and whole soul and whole mind” You must love Jehovah your God whole souled.
Matthew 22: 42-45 tells us this, “ What do YOU think about the Christ? Whose son is he?” They said to him: “David’s.” He said to them: “How, then, is it that David by inspiration calls him ‘Lord,’ saying, ‘Jehovah said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies beneath your feet”’? If, therefore, David calls him ‘Lord,’ how is he his son?”
Matthew 23: 9-10 says this, ” Moreover, do not call anyone your father on earth, for one is your Father, the heavenly One. Neither be called ‘leaders,’ for your Leader is one, the Christ.”
Matthew 23: 37-39 says this, ” how often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks together under her wings! But you people did not want it. Look! Your house is abandoned to you. For I say to you, you will by no means see me from henceforth until you say, ‘Blessed is he that comes in Jehovah’s name!’”
Matthew 24:36 says this, “Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father.”
Matthew 26:1-2 says this, “ Now when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said to his disciples: “You know that two days from now the Passover occurs, and the Son of man is to be delivered up to be impaled.”
Matthew 26: 12 says this, “For when this woman put this perfumed oil upon my body, she did it for the preparation of me for burial.”
Matthew 26: 29 says this, “ But I tell you, I will by no means drink henceforth any of this product of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in the kingdom of my Father.”
Mathew 26: 38-39 tells us this, ” Then he said to them: “My soul is deeply grieved, even to death. Stay here and keep on the watch with me.” And going a little way forward, he fell upon his face, praying+ and saying: “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me. Yet, not as I will, but as you will.”
Matthew 26: 42 says this, ” Again, for the second time, he went off and prayed, saying: “My Father, if it is not possible for this to pass away except I drink it, let your will take place.”
Matthew 26: 45 says this, ” Then he came to the disciples and said to them: “At such a time as this YOU are sleeping and taking you rest! Look! The hour has drawn near for the Son of man to be betrayed into the hands of sinners.”
Matthew 26: 50 says, ” But Jesus said to him: “Fellow, for what purpose are you present?” Then they came forward and laid hands on Jesus and took him into custody. “
Matthew 26: 53 says this, ” Or do you think that I cannot appeal to my Father to supply me at this moment more than twelve legions of angels?“
Matthew 26 : 57 tells us, ” Those who took Jesus into custody led him away to Caʹia·phas the high priest, where the scribes and the older men were gathered together. “
Matthew 26: 63-64 says this, ” But Jesus kept silent. So the high priest said to him: “By the living God I put you under oath to tell us whether you are the Christ the Son of God!” Jesus said to him: “You yourself said [it]. Yet I say to you men, From henceforth you will see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of power and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
Matthew 26: 66-68 says this, “ They returned answer: “He is liable to death.” Then they spit into his face and hit him with their fists. Others slapped him in the face, saying: “Prophesy to us, you Christ. Who is it that struck you?
Matthew 27: 1 says this, ” When it had become morning, all the chief priests and the older men of the people held a consultation against Jesus so as to put him to death.“
Matthew 27: 22-23 says this, ” Pilate said to them: “What, then, shall I do with Jesus the so-called Christ?” They all said: “Let him be impaled!” He said: “Why, what bad thing did he do?” Still they kept crying out all the more: “Let him be impaled!”
Matthew 27: 26 says, ” Then he released Barabbas to them, but he had Jesus whipped and handed him over to be impaled.”
Matthew 27: 27-31 tells us this, ” Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the governor’s palace and gathered the whole body of troops together to him. And disrobing him, they draped him with a scarlet cloak, and they braided a crown out of thorns and put it on his head and a reed in his right hand. And, kneeling before him, they made fun of him, saying: “Good day, you King of the Jews!” And they spit upon him and took the reed and began hitting him upon his head. Finally, when they had made fun of him, they took the cloak off and put his outer garments upon him and led him off for impaling.”
Matthew 27: 35-37 tells us this, ” When they had impaled him they distributed his outer garments by casting lots, and, as they sat, they watched over him there. Also, they posted above his head the charge against him, in writing: “This is Jesus the King of the Jews.”
Matthew 27: 46 says this, ” About the ninth hour Jesus called out with a loud voice, saying: “Eli, Eli, lama sabach thani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
Matthew 27: 50-54 says this, ” Again Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and yielded up [his] spirit. And, look! the curtain of the sanctuary was rent in two, from top to bottom, and the earth quaked, and the rock-masses were split. And the memorial tombs were opened and many bodies of the holy ones that had fallen asleep were raised up, (and persons, coming out from among the memorial tombs after his being raised up, entered into the holy city,) and they became visible to many people. But the army officer and those with him watching over Jesus, when they saw the earthquake and the things happening, grew very much afraid, saying: “Certainly this was God’s Son.”
Matthew 28: 1-7 tells us, ” After the sabbath, when it was growing light on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to view the grave. And, notice! a great earthquake had taken place; for Jehovah’s angel had descended from heaven and approached and rolled away the stone, and was sitting on it. His outward appearance was as lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. Yes, for fear of him the watchmen trembled and became as dead men. But the angel in answer said to the women: “Do not you be fearful, for I know you are looking for Jesus who was impaled. He is not here, for he was raised up, as he said. Come, see the place where he was lying. And go quickly and tell his disciples that he was raised up from the dead, and, look! he is going ahead of you into Galilee; there you will see him. Look! I have told you.”
Matthew 28: 10 says, ” Then Jesus said to them: “Have no fear! Go, report to my brothers, that they may go off into Galilee; and there they will see me.”
Matthew 28: 18-20 tells us, ” And Jesus approached and spoke to them, saying: “All authority has been given me in heaven and on the earth. Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And, look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.” Why would God Almighty not already have all authority, why would anyone have to give authority to God, and who is it that would have the authority over God that was holding that authority, who is it that has more authority in this universe than God ?
Mark 1:1 says this, ” [The] beginning of the good news about Jesus Christ:” There is not one single translationist on planet earth that ever translates Jesus Christ as, “GOD THE MAN”
Mark 1: 9-13 says this, ” In the course of those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John. And immediately on coming up out of the water he saw the heavens being parted, and, like a dove, the spirit coming down upon him; and a voice came out of the heavens: “You are my Son, the beloved; I have approved you.” And immediately the spirit impelled him to go into the wilderness. So he continued in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by Satan, and he was with the wild beasts, but the angels were ministering to him.”
Mark 1: 14-15, ” Jesus went into Galʹi·lee, preaching the good news of God and saying: “The appointed time has been fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has drawn near. Be repentant, you people, and have faith in the good news.”
Mark 1: 24, ” saying: “What have we to do with you, Jesus you Nazareneʹ? Did you come to destroy us? I know exactly who you are, the Holy One of God.”
Mark 1: 34 tells us this. ” So he cured many that were ill with various sicknesses, and he expelled many demons, but he would not let the demons speak, because they knew him to be Christ. “ Even the demons knew who he was, they knew him as the Christ, not Jehovah.
Mark 1: 35 says this, ” And early in the morning, while it was still dark, he rose up and went outside and left for a lonely place, and there he began praying. “ Does it make sense that Jesus would be praying to himself if he were actually God Almighty ? Who was Jesus praying too ?
Mark 2: 10 tells us, ” But in order for you men to know that the Son of man has authority to forgive sins upon the earth,”. If Christ has authority, it is implied that authority was distributed to him, and we must then ask, by whom ?
Mark 2: 16-17 tells us this, ” But the scribes of the Pharisees, when they saw he was eating with the sinners and tax collectors, began saying to his disciples: “Does he eat with the tax collectors and sinners?” Upon hearing this Jesus said to them: “Those who are strong do not need a physician, but those who are ill do. I came to call, not righteous people, but sinners.” The reason for this scripture is to remind us all, that Jesus as a rule, ate and sat and talked with tax collectors, sinners, and people of the nations, for those of you who still cling to the words of Paul, “not even eating with such a man” is in direct contradiction to the social behavior of Christ. Whose lead should you follow ?
Mark 3: 11 say this, ” Even the unclean spirits, whenever they would behold him, would prostrate themselves before him and cry out, saying: “You are the Son of God.”
Mark 5:6-7 says this, ” But on catching sight of Jesus from a distance he ran and did obeisance to him, and, when he had cried out with a loud voice, he said: “What have I to do with you, Jesus, Son of the Most High God?
Mark 6: 3-6 says this about Jesus, ” This is the carpenter the son of Mary and the brother of James and Joseph and Judas and Simon, is it not? And his sisters are here with us, are they not?” So they began to stumble at him. But Jesus went on to say to them: “A prophet is not unhonored except in his home territory and among his relatives and in his own house.” So he was able to do no powerful work there except to lay his hands upon a few sickly ones and cure them. Indeed, he wondered at their lack of faith. And he went round about to the villages in a circuit, teaching.” Would not God have the ability to perform any powerful work any time he wanted ? Who would have the authority to restrict Gods power ? But here we learn that in this instance, Jesus could not perform powerful works.
Mark 6:46 says this, ” But after saying good-bye to them he went off into a mountain to pray. “ Who did Jesus go off to pray to, do you suppose that he went off to pray to himself if he was actually God ?
John 10:9 says this, ” I am the door; whoever enters through me will be saved, and he will go in and out and find pasturage. The point of this scripture is, that when we read the scriptures God expects us to use the logic and reason that he gave us. Obviously, Jesus is not a door.

(60) Rolf Furuli “and the Word was a divine being”
If I were to translate the Bible for a group with no previous knowledge of it, I would use an idiomatic method, but I would follow your advise to translate important words as uniformely as possible. Because I see so much unnecessary theological coloring of the text in the modern versions, I guess I would be extremely careful to render theologically important passages as literal as possible. And the most important thing – I would like to have an extensive apparatus of footnotes, both giving textual variants and alternative renderings. But I would not give Louw & Nida’s suggestions in a footnote to Col 1:15, because they in my view are completely unfounded, linguistically speaking. To John 1:1, however, I would use one of the following five renderings in the main text, and the four others in a footnote: “And the Word was God”, “and the Word was divine”, “and the Word was a divine being”, “and the Word was a god”, “and god was the word”. (62) Professor Felix Just S.J. In origin was the Word, and the Word was toward [the] God,* and god/deity/God* was the Word. Professor Felix Just, S.J., Loyola Marymount University, 007–http://catholic-resources.org/John/Outlines-Prologue.htm actual translation web site ( see Note on Translation of 1:1-2 below ) http://catholic-resources.org/Courses/LMU/310Syllabus.htm web site and courses run by Felix Justhttp://www.amazon.com/John-Jesus-History-Appraisals-Literature =8-1
Note on the Translation of 1:1-2: My translation here is an attempt (maybe not completely successful?) to point out a curiosity and difficulty in the original Greek of John 1:1c, where the Evangelist writes, “KAI ThEOS HN hO LOGOS.” If the evangelist meant, “and the Word was God” (as it is often translated, capital ‘God’, in the full Trinitarian sense of later Christianity), he probably would have written ” KAI hO LOGOS HN hO ThEOS” (or “KAI hO ThEOS HN hO LOGOS” – essentially saying A=B or B=A). Instead, he wrote “KAI ThEOS HN hO LOGOS,” omitting the expected article “hO” in front of “ThEOS.”
..The first difference/difficulty: Ancient Greek has “definite articles” (in masculine, feminine, and neuter forms – but all equivalent to “the” in English), but it does NOT have any “INdefinite articles”(English “a, an”). In translation, we usually write “the” if the Greek noun is preceded by a definite article, while we often (but not always) have to ADD the word “a” or “an” in standard English when the definite article is missing in Greek (for example, “hO STAUROS” is “the cross, ” while “STAUROS” alone is “a cross”). So translating “KAI ThEOS HN hO LOGOS” as “and the Word was a god” (as Jehovah’s Witnesses do) adds an indefinite article in English that is not explicit in the orinigal Greek text, and may or may not be appropriate in English translation. A second difference/difficulty: When ancient Greek texts refer to “God” (ThEOS), they usually include the definite article in front, “hO ThEOS,” even though translating this too literally sounds strange in English. We usually just say “God,” rather than “the God.” Thinking of “hO ThEOS” as “the (one and only) God” might help, but still, we do not normally put the” in front of “God.” So most English translations simply drop the definite article whenever “hO ThEOS” refers to the Jewish or Christian monotheistic “God.” In contrast, in polytheistic contexts, it is sometimes better to translate “hO ThEOS” as “the god” (for example, “He went to the temple of the god” – implying a particular god, maybe Apollo, from among the many gods in the Greek pantheon). So what did the Evangelist mean in John 1:1c? He certainly did not consider Jesus to be just one “divine being” or “deity” among many others. If he meant “divine” in this broader sense, he easily could have used the related Greek adjective, “ThEIOS,” rather than the noun “ThEOS.” (See, for example, the adjective “ThEIOS” used twice in 2 Peter 1:3-4, referring to “divine power” and “divine nature”). Other texts in John clearly show that the Fourth Evangelist sees Jesus in a unique relationship with God, calling him “the only-begotten son” (TON hUION TON MONOGENH; 3:16), challenging us to believe “in the name of the only-begotten son of God” (EIS TO ONOMA TOU MONOGENOUS hIOU TOU ThEOU; 3:18), referring to his glory “as of a father’s only son” (hWSMONOGENOUS PARA PATROS; 1:14), and even calling him “the only-begotten God” (MONOGENHS ThEOS; 1:18 – another difficult phrase, with several ancient textual variations). To summarize: The Fourth Evangelist may not yet have thought of Jesus as the “second person of the Trinity” (theological language that took several centuries to develop in early Christianity – itself strongly influence by this Johannine passage); yet John certainly thought of Jesus as “divine” or “deity” or “god” in a unique sense, not merely “a god,” or one deity among many. Exactly what he meant in John 1:1c may not be easy to understand, and it is even harder to translate into English because of the difficulties mentioned above. So rather than fixate on any particular English translation, even the best of which might confuse us or lead us astray, we should try to continue deepening our understanding of what John’s entire Gospel says about the uniquely close relationship of Jesus and the Father.

(69) Dictionary of the Bible “the word was a divine being.’–Jesuit John L. McKenzie, 1965 – Dictionary of the Bible# “Trinity. In the words of Jesus and in much of the rest of the NT the God of Israel (Gk. ho theos) is the Father* of Jesus Christ. It is for this reason that the title ho theos, which now designates the Father as a personal reality, is not applied in the NT to Jesus Himself; Jesus is the Son of God (of ho theos). This is a matter of usage and not of rule, and the noun [Gk. ho theos] is applied to Jesus a few times. “Jn 1:1 should rigorously be translated “the word was with the God [= the Father],and the word was a divine being.” Thomas invokes Jesus with the titles which belong to the *Father, “My Lord and my God” (Jn 20:28). “The glory of our great God and Savior” which is to appear can be the glory of no other than Jesus (Tt 2:13)”(Dictionary of the Bible, John L. McKenzie, God, p317) The trinity of God is defined by the Church as the belief that in God are three persons who subsist in one nature. The belief as so defined was reached only in the 4th and 5th centuries AD and hence is not explicitly and formally a biblical belief. The trinity of persons within the unity of nature is defined in terms of “person” and “nature” which are Gk philosophical terms; actually the terms do not appear in the Bible. The trinitarian definitions arose as the result of long controversies in which these terms and others such as “essence” and “substance” were erroneously applied to God by some theologians. … Without an explicit formula the NT leaves no room to think that Jesus is Himself an object of the adoption which He communicates to others. He knows the Father and reveals Him. He therefore belongs to the divine level of being; and there is no question at all about the Spirit belonging to the divine level of being. What is less clear about the Spirit is His personal reality; often He is mentioned in language in which His personal reality is not explicit. (Dictionary of the Bible, John L.
