When ever the Hebrew scriptures were quoted, that contained the tetragramaton, it was proper to translate it as such, it would be improper to insert any other name in place of the tetragramaton, if the tetragramaton was called for. Most likely in the original Hebrew scriptures you will not find the name Jesus. the very first mention of Jesus is found at Matthew 1:1
And then, the idiot said this,
With regards – Sorry to contradict you, but we may not “rest assured” that the Messiah knew the correct pronunciation of YHWH, or used His Father’s name. There was no pronunciation for the tetragrammaton. For example, how would you pronounce ABCDEFGH? When the Pentateuch was written Hebrew words had no vowels. Words with different sound and different meaning could have the same consonants in the same order, but were understood by context. The tetragrammaton was regarded as unpronounceable. Vowels were added later to written Hebrew, but the language remained the same. If we want to understand why the tetragrammaton appears nowhere in any of the reliable Greek manuscripts used in translating the New Testament into English, we need to understand why God said what He said at Exodus 3,6, given that YHWH appears in the book of Genesis. We should look at the reasons why the Hebrews in copying the texts (meticulous workers) substituted YHWH for Adonai, and learn how that influenced the scholars who gave us the English translation. Then when we see the answer God gave to Moses at Exodus 3.14 we will start to understand some of the answers the Lord Jesus gave to His examiners, and appreciate the reasons why the NT when quoting OT verses that contained the letters YHWH always replaces the four letters with Kyrios, Lord. The vowels of Adonai were added to YHWH, or JHVH (Yod is pronounced Y or J, as in Jot, Jerusalem etc. Waw, or Vav can be W or V) to form the English pronunciation Jehovah. I can find nothing to explain what, if anything, the vowels used to form the name Yahweh signify.
@fromwhencecomewars What the fuck are you even talking about, are you really trying to say that there was no such thing as the Hebrew language, that it was all just nonsense, that it could not be spoken, read, or written when history testifies, that it is the oldest known language. Are you truly willing to commit yourself, to say that Jesus himself did not know how to pronounce his fathers name, when he himself said that he used it ? Even to this very day Jews use Hebrew, get out of here with this fucking nonsense. And there will be no apologies for the language, grow the hell up use the brain God gave you, learn to think and reason, but down the common core teaching you have been indoctrinated with.
And then another person says, tell me just one place where Jesus referred to his Fathers name, and I wrote back
Luke 4: 5-8 says this, ” So he brought him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the inhabited earth in an instant of time; and the Devil said to him: “I will give you all this authority and the glory of them, because it has been delivered to me, and to whomever I wish I give it. You, therefore, if you do an act of worship before me, it will all be yours.” In reply Jesus said to him: “It is written, ‘It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.’” Here in this scripture Jesus is quoting from the Hebrew scriptures, and in the Hebrew scriptures, it uses YHWH, not Lord. You know, you make the claim that you were once one of Jehovah”s Witnesses, but I am here to tell you that you never were one. Maybe you were baptized, gave public talks, spent a hundred hours a month out in the field ministry, never missed a meeting in your life, polished the shoes of every single governing body member, but you never were a witness of Jehovah. These things that you are challenging are elementary, and should have been learned, if you never even got to the point of recognizing that God gave himself a name, no matter how that name is pronounced in different languages, and trust me, God does allow for differences in language, then obviously there are much more things left out of your spiritual advancement. I am not defending what has happened to the organization, it has drifted into apostasy, exactly like Christ said it would, but that is no reason for you to follow them over the cliff.
